How to always Be!

A lot of us, through meditation, get a glimpse of what it is to ‘just be’. We feel very good about the experience of being in that state. But due to a lack of knowing how to apply it in our everyday lives, we slip back into the normal state of being.

When we are sitting in meditation—in a quiet and peaceful set-up—we feel transported to a different realm. But then it is time to end the meditation, drive through rush hour traffic, and get on with our lives. We don’t know how to remain in that blissful state. That is why religion came into being—to assist us in always experiencing bliss. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Because instead of guiding us towards always remaining in a state of simply being, religion turned into unbreakable rules.

If we focus on being 100 per cent present in the current moment, it is fairly simple to just be, and more importantly, to continue dwelling in that state of simply being. For example, someone comes to us seeking support, and we realize we are in a position to offer that support. This someone doesn’t necessarily have to be a friend or relative. Even if it is a stranger who is in need to something and it is within our means to be able to offer it to them, and we focus all our energy on providing that support, isn’t it similar to being in a meditative state?  A state where we don’t focus on ourselves; in fact, we focus away from ourselves.

Similarly, if we are driving, then to focus entirely on the drive and on nothing else—in other words, giving it our 100 per cent attention—is to simply be. Or, to meditate!
